Used to be the ‘Showboat’ back in the 50’s. A lot of top entainers appeared there. THE Crew Cuts The Four Aces , Johny Ray. Many more.
The bar area was just to small for the big crowds they had. The rest of the building had Bakers Barber Shop and Spudnut doughnuts.Across the street was the YEE WING Laundry and Emmons Drug Store, Lot of history on 8th and Broadway. Ess & Kay on the other side of 8th and Broadway. Best milkshake in the world.
Wow, John, thanks for the history lesson! Wish I had been around to photograph those days. There are good things on the way, though, so maybe someday I’ll get the chance to photograph the rebirth of downtown.
Really? is Ghoulardi’s torn down and gone?

Um, yeah, since 2012. It’s now a vacant green space.
