Knowing one’s roots is a good thing. – By the way the sign with the three mountains and the cross on it is also in the coat of arms of one of my ancestors. So it looks familiar to me.
I looked up the Slovakia Flag and found the mountains mentioned as:
The three hills are said to represent the three ranges of the Carpathian basin: Small Tatras, High Tatras and Small Fatras.
Wow, I didn’t know that. Thanks a lot, Philip! – I only know that one of my ancestors had to drive in the taxes for the Austrian Emperorin a province they called “New Hungary” then and therefore he became a count with the coat of arms of New Hungary. This province might be Slovakia later. It’s all so long ago, about 1600. This ancestor lived in Vienna.I think he was only in this province for driving in the taxes.
Nice!!

I thought that was a flag, never saw it as a coat of arms. Hmm. Do you know what the 3 mountains and the cross stands for?

By the way, the High Tatra is wonderful, beautiful! I once was there and I think I will come back once for spending some days in this awesome nature.
