We have a large variety of war monuments from different eras in this area. I can understand why there are some people Germany would not want to memorialize, but why exclude all for a few?
Lisa Germany, especially in Europe is seen as the leaders and cause of two world wars- and the deaths of millions of innocents – to memorialize and honor those events and honor those that fought for the Nazi regime and the Kaiser would be akin to insulting those who fought for the freedom . You have to remember the US was actually untouched by those two world wars meaning she was never bombed on her mainland and quite frankly does not know or even teach the history of those wars to her children. One day come over and talk to my mother ( who of course still lives) and who was bombed twice about the war and her father’s war. Heck I am not even allowed to buy a Mercedes ( not that I could afford it anyway)
This is awesome. But in Germany we have problems to honor the deceased of the war like this, You know, because of the history.
