This “ghost” sign advertises the Modern Laundry Co., which is listed in the 1905 City Directory at 112, 3rd Ave, Phone 700. A few years later the city renamed and numbered the streets and 3rd Ave. became 10th Street.
Google Maps shows this to be the only building on the East 10th Street portion of the block [even though it is west of Broadway]. The remainder of the block, west to Reid, is labeled West 10th Street. I thought East 10th Street was on the other side of Broadway, off of the old Broadway dead end.
