built on a bluff for a bride

  1. Hopefully someone will fall in love with this old house and renovate it. I am always sad seeing houses that will decay, because nobody sees the beauty. There is still the old door in it, a beautiful door! And the gables look nice. But I think they will tear it down soon.

  2. Unfortunately, the house has been like this for 30-40some years now. Someone bought it a few years back and started to renovate it – the roof and garage door are new – but they didn’t get much farther than that. Maybe Loraine will come around and tell us more about it. She knows a lot more about the history of this old city than some who were born and raised here.

  3. I have looked at that house now since I moved in my house ( as a sweet young thing) It has been empty and somewhat abandoned for at least 39 years. The siding and roof was insisted upon during the Kozuria administration and fixing it up under the then building inspector. But it was still empty 🙂 The house history is that a father built it for his daughters wedding present and I believe was a relative of the present owner . It is called the bluffs because the “stream” ( that stills runs underneath the road ) flowed right past and the house sat on the bluff…. Not much can be done there were rats as big as cats at one point.A couple of years ago a chap tried to buy it off the owner and cleared it all out and was going to rehab it but then the owner changed his mind….the house has been open to the elements for so many years it is in very very very bad shape ……….. and it is an eyesore and a damned shame….Loraine
