Vacant house a total loss in Long Avenue fire

Best of the pix @ the auditor’s site:
Who knows the year and make of the car?

The pedimented gable with sunburst motif in the tympanum was a popular architectural style in the early 1900’s.
[Persons who know more about the architectural stuff than I was able to find online in about 10-15 minutes are welcome to gently correct that statement 🙂 ]

  1. What’s going on there with all the abadoned houses? I guess the city should be happy they are demolishing them instead of leaving them standing for crime to occur. It always makes me sad to see this type of thing. I always think of the families that have lived and grown there. The laughter and tears that make a house home.

    1. We finally have an opportunity to get the necessary funding from the feds and we have people in city hall who are happy to take full advantage of the opportunity. The demolition of most of these houses is long overdue. The banks and multi property owners are experts in fighting the demolition process. Agree 100%, thus the reason for the posts and the “then and now” pictures. We are slowly losing our history.
        Somebody has to record it.
