I don’t know either answer. I was driving by the back part of the Church when I saw the back hoe and dumpster. When I parked to take the picture, it appeared that the part of the building in the foreground is empty with most of the windows gone.
It does look to be some sort of extension of the original church. Isn’t there also a senior living complex on the property? I’m sure more could be learned from those in the know about this demolition. Was there anything written about it in the newspaper? I know Fr. Glepko is the priest there.
From recent Nativity newsletters in late November and early December, 2012:
“Today I’m signing the contract for the demolition of the
convent building. After the asbestos is removed the building
will be sealed for 10 days and then teardown will begin.”
“All of the utilities in the old convent building have been
turned off. We now wait for the asbestos to be
removed, then a safe period, and then the building will
come down.”
The senior living complex is on the West 15th side of the block, near where it meets with West 17th, across from the triangle park honoring the Polish guy.
What part of this church are they tearing down and why?

Is that the same building that housed all the ex-cons and pedophiles that Loraine wrote about several years ago?

At Nativity? That’s a good question, muley. I’ll ask her.
