toppled trees outlast power towers

The first power tower, on the corner of Oberlin Avenue and Second Street, was disconnected today from the former Edgewater substation. Now that the towers have been decommissioned, they will be taken down. The line of towers runs east along Second Street, then through the City Hall parking lot to the Black River. That’s where the line of towers heads to the south through Black River Landing, Black River Wharf, and all the riverfront land in-between. It is the opinion of many that these ugly towers have hindered the redevelopment of our waterfront and downtown and that removing them is a huge step in the right direction of the re-creation of Lorain.
